Diary Entry 1

After further research into the idea for my film i have decided to change the storyline. There are several reasons for this, firstly due to the ideas in the film being unrealistic; after further research into the drugs used in this film, i recognised that it would be unrealistic for someone to go to a party after taking heroin; it is not a drug which a person would take in order to receive a 'party high'. Also other than the use of drugs there wasn't a real motif for the main character to kill a person and i believe this reason alone would not suffice. After considering the feedback which i received after my pitch i felt that the film would fit the drama genre rather than the thriller genre. After discussing with peers other ideas i came up with a new storyline which involves a young woman, Amelia, who is being stalked by a man. She awakes in an unknown room in which the walls are covered in photos of herself. During the film she has flashbacks of the night before, she is at a party dancing with a man who is very friendly towards her. Back in the unknown room the man from the previous night enters, he is stirring a solution which he forces Amelia to drink as he plans the perfect life between them. The title of the film is 'The Perfect Life', i feel it evokes mystery through the use of flashbacks, also a sense of eeriness through the stalking, the photos etc. I think this storyline will work better as it is more simplistic in the idea yet the techniques during filming and editing will allow for an 'edge of seat' effect on the audience keeping them enticed as the plot unravels.
